Cover Reveal for The Silence of Bones by June Hur!

It's time for a COVER REVEAL!

Are you READY to see the cover for June Hur's The Silence of Bones? It's absolutely stunning and 100% haunting, so naturally we love it and hope you will, too!

And, while it's important for us to love the cover, it's MORE important for the author to love the cover—so we asked June Hur to talk about her feels.

A note from June Hur:

I grew up watching historical Korean Dramas, and one day I found myself wanting a book form of this genre, but couldn’t quite find what I was looking for. So I decided to write the book I wanted to read, which resulted in the birth of The Silence of Bones, a murder mystery set in 1800s Korea, back when it was a closed-off kingdom.

When I learned that Kasiq Jungwoo would be illustrating the cover for this book, I was incredibly happy. I adore his style and appreciate that he is a Korean artist. The moment I got to see the final cover art—I fell in love with it! The blue, smoky watercolor illustration reminded me of rainy days and foggy mountains, which was perfect because a major aspect of my book is its moody and atmospheric tone. I also loved getting to see an illustration of my two main characters, the homesick servant girl Seol and the tormented Inspector Han! I’m so excited about this cover and can’t wait to share this book with everyone.

Now.

I have a mouth, but I mustn't speak;
Ears, but I mustn't hear;
Eyes, but I mustn't see.

1800, Joseon (Korea). Homesick and orphaned sixteen-year-old Seol is living out the ancient curse: “May you live in interesting times.” Indentured to the police bureau, she’s been tasked with assisting a well-respected young inspector with the investigation into the politically charged murder of a noblewoman.

As they delve deeper into the dead woman's secrets, Seol forms an unlikely bond of friendship with the inspector. But her loyalty is tested when he becomes the prime suspect, and Seol may be the only one capable of discovering what truly happened on the night of the murder.

But in a land where silence and obedience are valued above all else, curiosity can be deadly.
