Hassan would be making weekly no-contact deliveries of food, soap, and face masks to the Herati refugees in Pallas Athos. He would spend the rest of his time holed up in the library reading up on pandemics and infectious diseases.

“If I just knew more about the virus, I’d know how to keep everyone safe.”

Anton and Jude would wind up being forced to quarantine together. Jude would take daily nature walks to stave off going mad being in close quarters with Anton. Anton would get so bored he would try to teach Jude how to play canbarra, and would find endless entertainment in Jude's utter failure to understand the concept of bluffing.

"Jude, you can't just tell me you have bad cards!"
"But I do have bad cards."
"Yes, but you want your opponent to think you're going to win.”
“But I'm not going to win.”

Anton's amusement would be short-lived when he realizes that Jude can always tell when he's bluffing.

Ephyra and Beru would be hunkered down in their crypt. Beru would start a side-business crafting face masks out of makeshift materials, while Ephyra wages a losing argument that murder is an essential service for which she should be able to break shelter in place.

Ephyra: “It’s not like I’ll be endangering anyone! I mean, other than the person being--”

Beru: “Ephyra, NO.”

Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows meets Kristin Cashore's Graceling, with a dash of Winter is Coming, in this show-stopping debut YA fantasy!

"I dare you not to fall madly in love with these characters.” —Laura Sebastian, New York Times bestselling author of Ash Princess

The Age of Darkness approaches.

Five lives stand in its way.

Who will stop it . . . or unleash it?

For generations, the Seven Prophets guided humanity. Using their visions of the future, they ended wars and united nations—until the day, one hundred years ago, when the Prophets disappeared.

All they left behind was one final, secret prophecy, foretelling an Age of Darkness and the birth of a new Prophet who could be the world’s salvation . . . or the cause of its destruction. As chaos takes hold, five souls are set on a collision course:

A prince exiled from his kingdom.

A ruthless killer known as the Pale Hand.

A once-faithful leader torn between his duty and his heart.

A reckless gambler with the power to find anything or anyone.

And a dying girl on the verge of giving up.

One of them—or all of them—could break the world. Will they be savior or destroyer? Perfect for fans of Throne of Glass, Children of Blood and Bone, and An Ember in the Ashes.
