A Very Summoner Playlist

A Very Summoner Playlist

Want to know what songs author Taran Matharu listened to while writing the third book in the Summoner Series, The Battlemage? Well, Taran’s got some answers for you!

Run Boy Run - Woodkid:
This song was great for when picturing the mission scenes in The Inquisition. I could see cut scenes in my mind’s eye of the team running through the trees and seeing all the beauty of the orc jungles.

Divenire - Ludovico Einaudi: I often listen to this song when I picture the wider world of Hominum, especially its history and the cultures of the different races in it.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Lorde: This is a good song for when thinking of the political tensions between the different groups vying for supremacy in the Summoner world, from the Triumvirate, to King Alfric, the albino orc, Khan.

Adagio in D Minor - John Murphy: This song was listened to many times over when picturing the final battle scenes of The Battlemage

All These Things That I’ve Done - The Killers: Similar to the last song, it’s a great way for me to flash through the friendship between Fletcher, Sylva, Othello and Cress when thinking about the battle scenes and their aftermath.

Wicked Game (feat. Annaca) - Ursine Vulpine: This is a sad song, and when I listen to it, it often makes me think of the characters that die throughout the series.

Sing - Travis: Definitely a romantic song (one I discovered when watching The Office), it helps me get into a romantic mindset when writing romantic scenes in The Battlemage.

Knights of Cydonia - Muse: This song was fantastic for picturing a scene where cavalry charge (especially from 2 mins 40 seconds in!), again for the final battle scenes of The Battlemage. You’ll know what scene I’m talking about when you read it!
